Over eighty percent of the consumers of this traditional tobacco product are located in the Americas and Western Europe. Cigars usually incorporate dark air-cured tobaccos, and are generally classified as either hand-made or machine-made products. High quality hand-made cigars are composed of 100% natural leaf. The majority of cigars in the marketplace are machine-made and include three components; wrapper, binder and filler.
Hand-made - The tobacco blend, construction and shape of a hand-made cigar affects the smoke taste. Traditionally hand-made cigars have utilized little or no flavoring. Lately, however, the industry has adopted various flavor systems as a means to differentiate their products in the marketplace.
Machine-made -A wide variety of cigar making machines and constructions are employed by the industry. Traditionally, flavors are applied to the cigar filler prior to the cigar making process. Components of these cigars range from 100% natural leaf to use of reconstituted tobacco binders and/or wrappers.
